Fourth Seat Mahjong is a game, not a data business. There is no advertising, no analytics company, and no tracking. This page lists everything the app keeps, in plain language, because that list is short enough to actually read.

Who you are in the app

Offline play needs no sign-up. You pick a display name, the app generates a random identifier that stays on your device, and the name is linked to that identifier so it stays yours.

Online play needs an account: a username (your display name), a password, and an email address. The password is stored only as a salted hash (scrypt); nobody, including us, can read it back. The email exists for one reason — to send you a six-digit code when you create the account or need to recover it after losing every device. We never ask for your real name, phone number, contacts, or location, and we never email you for any other reason.

What the server keeps

What is never collected

No real names or phone numbers. No contacts, photos, or location. No advertising identifiers. No third-party analytics or tracking of any kind. No card numbers — see Purchases below. Your email is kept only for account codes and is never sold, shared, or used for marketing.

Purchases

The Parlor Pass, the subscription for online play, is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or billing details. We receive the subscription's status and expiry from Apple (through RevenueCat, the service that processes App Store receipts for us), linked to the random device identifier and therefore to your display name, so the Parlor knows your seat is paid. That is the only purchase information kept. Cancelling is done in your Apple ID settings, and refunds are handled by Apple.

On the website, the Parlor Pass can also be bought by card. That checkout page is run by RevenueCat, and the card payment is processed by Stripe; your card details and billing address go to them, never to our server. We receive the same subscription status and expiry, linked the same way. A web subscription is changed or cancelled from the link in its receipt email.

Where it lives, and who sees it

Game data is stored on a server we operate (hosted on Fly.io in the United States) and is used only to run the game. We do not sell, share, or transfer any of it to anyone. Two service providers touch a sliver of it to do their job: Resend delivers the account-code emails (it sees the address and the code), and RevenueCat reports subscription status from Apple. Display names, emblems, and scores are visible to other players by design — that is what a leaderboard and a table are.

Chat safety

All chat — tables, the parlor, and direct messages — passes a language filter, is rate-limited, and can be reported or blocked from the message itself. Blocking someone hides them from you everywhere, immediately, and direct messages are only possible between mutual friends.

Children

Fourth Seat Mahjong is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only free-text a player ever shares is filtered chat under a display name.
